Getting around in the city

Travelling in private vehicles is what generates the majority of CO₂ emissions. However, having good connections to the railway network and an effective network of public transport can reduce them dramatically. Bremen is well-served in this respect and our metropolis on the Weser continues to be the city of short routes. Quite simply, the best way of getting around is on foot! Alternatively, you could also use a bicycle – something our citizens particularly enjoy. Our guests can take advantage of rental bicycles, e-scooters and car-sharing options and, of course, a well-established public transport network to help them get from A to B exactly when they want to.

Mobility and Flexibility

It's not just the bicycle that is a popular mode of transportation: E-scooters and the extensive public transport network enable people to travel around in Bremen easily, quickly and sustainably. A range of different Park & Ride facilities and Bike & Ride stations create the ideal combination of different modes of transportation. Car-sharing is also very popular in Bremen.

The public transport network

No matter whether you take the bus or the tram, you'll always get where you need to go, on the public transportation network. For example, you can take tram line 6 to travel directly to and from the airport to the city centre, the Exhibition & Conference Centre and then on to the University and Technology Park, all without changing.

The "Congress Ticket"

Would you like to give your attendees problem-free access to the entire public transport network? That's easy – simply arrange for them to get the VBN Kongressticket (congress ticket). The ticket can easily be linked to the attendee's badge for the conference. Get in touch to find out more!

Getting around by bike

In comparison with other cities, Bremen is particularly bike-friendly. This was borne out a Germany-wide survey conducted by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (ADFC - German Cyclist’s Association). The Hanseatic city was awarded first place in the "Large city" category.

Bremen also provides a free of charge navigation app for cyclists, the Bike Citizens App. Bremen has a multitude of cycle path signs and a route planner on BIKE IT!

Guests can use the WK bikes which can be booked easily throughout the entire city. Simply log on and hire the bike, either on the app or by calling the hotline.

You can also hire cargo bikes, to move materials around the place quickly.

Parking in Bremen

The city centre has a large number of car parks that are connected to a system of signs to guide drivers to parking spaces. There are around 2,500 parking spaces on the Bürgerweide, directly in front of the Exhibition & Conference Centre. However, restrictions may be put in place when major events such as the Bremen Freimarkt funfair are held. Your best option is to leave your car in the hotel garage. You won't be needing it now you're here in Bremen.
